SoundRzn was brought on in 2011 to provide graphic design and branding services for Dr. Marc Williams and his company Williams Communications LLC. In addition to writing books, Dr. Williams tours universities nation-wide speaking to college athletes about a range of empowering issues. SoundRzn designs the visual layout for these events.
Dr. Williams first round of touring came off the heels of a tour with notable hip-hop figure and reality TV star Fonzworth Bentley, so our design and marketing plan was built to include a bit more flash, fun and vibrancy. Also included in this study are the elements of our first Symposium Program, details the biographies of speakers and schedule of events.
The 2012-2013 school year provided us the chance to begin refining and developing a greater feel for Dr. Williams' brand during these speaking engagements. We pushed elements of the vibrancy shown in earlier flyers through color and type choices, but refined the font and layout to give the events a more professional and collegiate feel.
By the 2013-2014 School Year, we'd established the fundamentals of Dr. Williams' branding. By this point I looked to develop more of an aesthetic difference between the previous year versus this new year of touring, since Dr. Williams would be revisiting some of the same universities he'd spoken at before. For this round, we stripped the vibrancy of color a bit and chose thinner type fonts, giving the events a more professional and sleeker look.
In our third year of branding, we took elements from the previous two years; colliding the simplicity of the previous campaign with the boldness of the year before and closing with a glossier feel. The font type and layout were two of the main tools used to express this compromise of designs.
